Using the new range of colour swing top bottles

With summer coming there are endless uses for a swing top bottle. Often used for home made cordials, flavoured oils, liqueurs or dressings, with their soft pastel colours these bottles in full sized form look great simply filled with water at the table for a traditional dinner party or a casual barbecue. If you can’t make any of the coloured swing stopper bottles match your decor or table theme, don’t forget that Wares of Knutsford also offers a large range of clear bottles with swing stoppers, some decorated with motifs.

When it comes to summer picnics, the individual serving sized 250ml bottles are neat and practical. Stylish kids will love sipping their refreshments through a straw from colour swing top bottles.

In fact the bottles are so decorative that they could simply be used for single stem flower arrangements along a shelf or table centre.

Raspberry cordial for pink colour swing top bottles

To fill one full size bottle:

  • 600g fresh or defrosted frozen raspberries
  • 600g caster sugar
  • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar

Add the raspberries, sugar and vinegar to a saucepan and heat for about 10 minutes, mashing gently. The mixture should become smooth and syrup like. Push the mixture through a sieve a couple of times into a clean saucepan.

Scrape the remnants of fruit pulp and seeds from the sieve into a bowl and add 400ml of water. Pass through the sieve another time to extract the last remnants of pulp and add to the liquid in the saucepan. Give a good stir and bring to the boil for one minute.

While the cordial is still warm, pour through a funnel into the sterilised bottles, seal and allow to cool before storing in the refrigerator. The cordial will keep for up to a month unopened.
